The band started five years ago (made up of musicians all of whom have many years of experience) and plays a variety of different styles and eras of jazz from Ragtime, Blues, Dixieland, Swing, Bop and a few original numbers by Pat.

Mike Mackenzie – clarinet, soprano, alto, tenor saxes
Maarten Verbraeken – trumpet, flugelhorn
Allan Leckie – keyboard
David Swan – bass guitar (with or without frets)
Andy “Kid” Davidson – drums
Black Isle Jazz have played at the Bute Jazz Festival (including a Sunday Jazz Praise Service), Fyvie Castle, Dunvegan Castle, (Chief of Clan MacLeod loved the band), Castle of Mey, Cawdor Castle & Ballindalloch Castle, The Exhibition Centre, Aberdeen, and are regulars at the Moray Jazz Club, Elgin, not to mention several gigs at the Garioch Jazz Club, Inverurie. We also play three times every year at Beer Festivals in the Argyll Hotel and Morefield Motel in Ullapool.
